Turbulence

_DSC7629bw

I’m doing a second differential equations class as a part of my last semester at college. I remember recently reading commentary on Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” being a relatively accurate model of turbulence. As I look at the curl and grain of my friend’s poodle’s fur I can’t help but think of the genetics that lead to a the double (or multiple-layer) helix of fur that goes into making a hair curl or the symmetry of waves. And to even note that in my own mind the golden spiral appears naturally pleasing to my eye in much things I see and choose to photograph. What perfect yet random math must go into that. I see a slope field somewhere.
